Bertoneri:: A Family History
Paulo Bertoneri

The Bertoneri family began quarrying and carving marble from their own quarries in southern Italy over two hundred years ago. Since then, their skill and craftsmanship has seen the Bertoneri name become synonymous with fine hand carved stonework. The quality of their work led to an ever increasing demand and to meet this demand Bertoneri has expanded outside of Italy opening quarries and workshops on top of some of the world's finest stone deposits. Bertoneri's stone interests have now spanned the globe with quarries in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, China and Turkey.

In spite of their world wide expansion, Bertoneri craftsmen still retain all the skills and methods that made Bertoneri what it is today. All of our fireplaces are hand carved and polished by traditional craftsmen. We are proud of our traditions and we are proud to pass these traditions and skills on to new generations. Recent years have seen Bertoneri focus on their core business of fireplaces and surrounds and they have invested heavily in design and now lead the field in bringing new and exciting designs to the market. The Quality of Bertoneri Marble has seen many of Italy's finest buildings displaying both their stone and their craftsmanship.

Fire and Timber Supplies
Over 20 years ago Fire and Timber Supplies an Irish family firm undergoing a period of rapid expansion became closely involved with Bertoneri Marble. Initially Fire and Timber Supplies were sole distributors of the Bertoneri brand in Ireland. Soon, however Fire and Timber Supplies acquired the rights for distribution in the UK. A close working relationship led to Fire and Timber Supplies taking a share of the Bertoneri business and they now handle all of the distribution and marketing of the Bertoneri brand from their base in Ireland.
