Caring for a Bertoneri
Marble, Limestone and Granite
1. Wipe down stone surfaces with a damp rag
and buff dry on a weekly basis.
2. Use a neutral, non-abrasive cleaner (such as acetone, hydrogen
peroxide or clear ammonia) for tough stains. Powdered cleansers
will scratch or damage the stone.
3. Apply the cleaner with a cloth and buff dry.
4. After cleaning, polish marble surfaces using a marble polish
containing tin oxide.
5. Wipe limestone and granite surfaces dry.
5. Place coasters under glasses and take care with beverages as
even weak acids - vinegar, wine, orange juice, cola - can damage
your natural stone fireplace Mop up spills immediately and rinse
with water.
Timber
Caring for a timber fireplace will be dictated
by the finish of you fireplace. For a fireplace with a painted finish
cleaning is best done with warm soapy water. A weekly cleaning schedule
will help you to keep you fireplace looking its best. For a natural
timber fireplace, most will have a protective sealant and will only
require a minimal cleaning schedule to keep them in top condition.
Polishing your fireplace with a commercially available polish is
perfectly acceptable as is cleansing in a mild detergent solution.
